Every time I visit Chicago I make sure to stop at Virtue. Service is always great and the food even better. Virtue provides the ultimate comfort food that taste like it was cooked with love. Our most recent visit this year we were sat in the bar area and as our host took us around the bar area to our table next to the window we walked by at least 5 staff members and each person said hello and welcomed us. Its small gestures like this that makes customers feel invited and comforted. So thank you Virtue!! The photos provided are from different visits. We sat in each area of the restaurant and have tried most of the menu.

Out-of-this-world southern comfort! The food at Virtue really blew me away. It has that fine dining presentation with a home cooking palate of flavors. I usually highlight a few dishes, but each and every thing we had was wonderful. Starting with the gumbo was the perfect way to defrost from the bitter cold. Our appetizer spread of greens, mac, and cornbread was like the Three Wise Men delivering heavenly gifts to our table. The cheesy balance of the mac, the smoked, juicy flavor of the greens, and the cornbread's mouthwatering honeybutter bites. The short rib was so tender and succulent, each piece gliding off the knife. And each scallop was packed with so much flavor. And the one-two combo of millie's puddin' (banana pudding) and the cinnamon apple bread pudding was the ultimate knockout. I can honestly say they were some of the best desserts I've ever had. Not a single morsel was left on our plates! I can't sing my praises high enough. Virtue was next level. They really put the soul in soul food.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-Star Dining Experience at Virtue Restaurant – Chicago Virtue Restaurant exceeded every expectation from start to finish. I ordered an espresso martini, and it was made perfectly—complete with the three espresso beans I require, which immediately set the tone for the level of detail and care they put into everything. For appetizers, we enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, gumbo, collard greens cornbread, and mac & cheese. Each dish was flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Every bite reflected the soul and creativity behind the menu. For the main course, I had the half chicken served with sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts, which was cooked to perfection and incredibly satisfying. The other party ordered the braised short ribs, and they were just as impressive, tender, rich, and full of flavor. The service truly deserves special recognition. Raj provided immaculate, five-star service—very attentive, warm, and professional. The entire staff was exceptional. When I accidentally dropped my napkin, it was immediately picked up and replaced without hesitation. Empty plates and glasses were cleared promptly, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience without interruption. The menu is diverse, the crowd was equally diverse, and the overall environment was welcoming and vibrant. Virtue offers not just a meal, but a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommend—this is Chicago dining at its finest.

You guys are the standard of excellence! Starting with the front of the house! We entered virtue with warm greetings. All of the staff worked in sync with eachother which resulted in a smooth dinning experience! Our server was excellent he had the menu memorized to the point when he was going word for word with the menu. We started off with the fried green tomatoes and gumbo... it was cold outside and the gumbo was perfect that it warmed your insides up. Then it was our entrees which was the blackened catfish and the beef short ribs both very flavorful! The mac and cheese in my opinion is the best mac in the city! The greens reminded you of your grandmother's Sunday cooking. For dessert we had some banana pudding which was a perfect finish for a filling dinner! Ohhhh the drinks!! I can't forget the drinks! My wife had a rum punch that was so good we almost requested for a bottle of it to take home! I originally wanted a old fashioned which is my favorite cocktail BUT Alot of places don't make their old fashioned like i do so I switched it up and got a cocktail named the uncle honey which was made out of uncle nearest whiskey. All in all virtue is a place that everyone should get a chance to experience! Virtue is a conversation starter type of place basically when its mentioned it'll setup for a great convo. I highly recommend 10/10

My husband and I went to celebrate his birthday last night. The food was mouthwatering, the service was fantastic, and the ambience was beautiful! We ordered a few things as it was our first time going. We shared a bit of everything, but the chicken, short rib, mac, greens, and cornbread were all phenomenal! Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area or looking for some savory, comforting, and delicious bites!

My very late birthday meal courtesy of my son. He chose a southern affair restaurant. Everything was delicious from their Southern Flower drink to the appetizers, main courses, extras and desserts. Rog was our wonderful server. She took the time to recommend the best of all the available menu options. 5 stars for her helpful service and good attitude. Thank you!

Read a lot about this place before coming to Chicago, so had to try it out! Food - 4.5/5 Cornbread - 4/5 - This was really good and the butter was so tasty, however, I think there’s a bit too much. It would be better with maybe like a tablespoon or two of butter, in my opinion. Mac and Cheese - 4/5 - it was really tasty, but tooooo rich - you honestly can’t eat more than one or two bites of this. The first few are great and then you really feel it. Beef Short Rib - 4.5/5 - the best beef short rib I’ve ever had. This was so tasty, and had the perfect texture… I enjoyed every bite. Service - 5/5 - Everyone was friendly and helpful, really appreciate the good service. Ambiance - 5/5 - Nice lighting, good character and feel.. perfect for a date or a night out. I’d definitely come back, thanks for a great experience!
